George Washington Classical Sun Tzu Strategist and Master in the Art of War The American defeat of the British during the Revolutionary War was a direct result of George Washingtons incredible leadership and generalship which epitomized the greatness of Sun Tzus Art of War Introduction The key to the success of the American Revolution was the George Washington himself. Faced with a near impossible task of defeating a tremendously powerful enemy, Washington was required to defy the odds. So how does Washingtons accomplishment of this task relate to Sun Tzu and his teachings of The Art of War? There crucial points come to light: (1) Washingtons selection as to command the Continental Army and inherent command†¦show more content†¦General Washington was respected not just by the rank and file, but also by people in all parts of the colonies. Although he did not inspire his men to fanatical loyalty as Napoleon or Nelson, the troops under his command knew they could count upon his valor, military judgment, and fair justice always. (Morison, p. 314-5) Everyone, from the highest gentleman in Congress to the lowest private in the Army, could depend on George Washingtons character at all times. Strategy to Win the War Washingtons reevaluation of the situation after the failure in New York was the strategy he should have adopted from the start of the war. His knowledge of war fighting was learned by direct observation and experience. In this, he realized to win he must more that all else, preserve the integrity of the Continental Army. Washington concluded that if the army could be kept alive, the Revolutionary cause would remain alive. (Weigley, p. 12) In gaining this insight, Washington set about on a new course to victory in that the Art of War is demonstrated. Washington first plans for a strategic defensive, thereby preserving his army. He avoids battle whenever possible and continues to draw the British into a prolonged war of attrition. It is this continuous maneuvering that gives Washington control of the flow of the War. Love Is Not An Exclusive Relationship Essay - 1437 Words

Love is not an exclusive relationship; love is a quality and depth of being. Our outer relationships are a mirror of our basic inner relationship with ourselves. Relationships are a balance, a development and a dance between our male and female qualities. All people seek love, joy and harmony in their own way. We all want to be loved for who we are. We all want to be acknowledged and accepted for the unique individual we are. The problem in relationships arises when we seek our own center, our own source of love, in another person. We seek a source of love outside of ourselves. The problem in relationships is that the other person also seeks after his own center, his own source of love, in the other person. In this way both persons will sooner or later feel disappointed and cheated, because of their expectation on the other person. It is first when we let go of the idea and expectation that the other person will give us the love that we do not have inside ourselves, that the base for a really loving, satisfying and meaningful relationship is possible. It is first when the relationship becomes a giving of love, instead of a taking of love, that the relationship becomes really nourishing and satisfying. As long as we look for the source of love outside of ourselves, we will eventually become disappointed and disillusioned. It is first when we can relate from our inner being, from our inner center, from our inner source of love and truth, that relationships becomes reallyShow MoreRelatedRelationship Between Couples And Heterosexual Couples954 Words   |  4 Pagesdifferent ways a person could say a relationship is supposed to look like. Pentium Flaw Essay Example

Pentium Flaw Paper NTI 1 10: Computer Structure and Logic ITT Technical Institute 10/20/2013 The Pentium Flaw a divisional error was discovered in the summer of 1994. The flaw was discovered by Intel. Intel decided that their chips did not need to be recalled since the chance of the average user discovering the error was less than 1 in 9 billion. Thomas Nicely a mathematics professor at Lynchburg College in Lynchburg VA made error public when he sent an e-mail to several colleagues. Nicely was using several computers to compute mathematical problems to prove they had enough power to do so. I believe Intel did not handle the problem correctly at all. Intel knowing that there was a flaw in the chip still sent out a defective product. Regardless of who might come across the flaw or error Intel should have recalled the chip immediately to have them replaced. Intel deciding to send out the flawed processor has probably helped the company as well. Before the flaw not many people even knew who or what Intel was. Intel after months of research and help from outside professionals decided to recall the chip and have them replaced. Nicely said he had run more than one quadrillion calculations on a revised chip and could ot reproduce the error. I believe that if a similar situation were to occur it would be handled quickly and promptly. Huckleberry Finn, The Shore and the Rafts Symbols essays

Huckleberry Finn, The Shore and the Rafts Symbols essays Theirs not a thing in the world that can relate to how it feels to be free, with no worries, nothing that can bother you, while the sun sets, the sky turns to a color that your eyes selfishly gaze at, because your free for that one moment. But we all no that having no worries is just a fantasy, theirs always that thing that makes life become so tense that you would risk anything to get away. In The adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain shows symbolism within the shore, and the river that relates to the mood of life. It helps show the choice a person makes to show the direction their life is going. What I mean by that I will explain. Huckleberry Finn Is a pretty easygoing type of guy, he really doesnt have many cares, not about appearance, or speech, or how civilized he really is. Huck is a very adventure bound person, always looking for the lost treasure. This is just the type of person Huck is. When Huck is on the raft floating down stream with Jim, its like your back in 1st grade. 1 you aint gotta talk properly, 2. You dont have to worry about why your doing things, you just do them, 3. Everything is fun, nothing remotely relates to work of any kind. This is why I believe Twain uses the river to symbolize the easygoing side of life, the side where all worries are washed away, and the act of being civilized isnt even real. The life on the river was an enjoyable time, never a worry, mostly always an adventure. Like when they first got on the raft in the early part of the book, it was to get away form the evil on shore. Huck was running away form his dad and had to get away somehow. Basically the raft ride was an adventure, they traveled all the way down the river, ran into the bad guys, you no, the average adventure story. Like when Jim and Huck found all the items on the mysterious raft, and how they were going to make a living on the raft, ...

Assignments writing tips for students

Assignments writing tips for students Assignments writing tips Every student, studying at high school, college or university, is often assigned to write an academic paper. The assignment can mean writing an essay, a research paper, a term paper, a report, a review or any other kind of paper. Professors all over the world have a common opinion that it helps to evaluate both students writing skills and talent, their capacity to express thoughts in a clear form, build solid argumentation, and use the available information. For sure, writing different kinds of assignments is a skill that requires constant development. Therefore, most students want to improve their skills and make the writing process more efficient and less boring. In some cases, achieving this objective is quite demanding. One needs to develop certain techniques and to use different tools. Academic writing requires excellent grammar and spelling. If you have any problems with it, you can start a personal journal of your mistakes. It is very profitable to write down the rules you often forget about, and misspelled or misused words, etc. In addition, it would be wrong to avoid using online resources for improving English. The Internet is full of resources with great amount of helpful information on writing. You can learn numerous tips on avoiding common mistakes with the help of clear and understandable techniques, and then write the assignment given by your professor perfectly. Certainly, enrichment of your vocabulary is a very important part of writing skills. The more words you hold the better papers you can produce. The obvious advice for this would be reading various books and articles, but there are also some other interesting options you might want to explore. For example, Visuwords is a superb online dictionary where you can construct visual words associations and get an explanation of their meanings. This service is very profitable and helpful when you have to find proper terms and build complex sentences. Also, you can use Merriam-Webster Visual Dictionary if you have any doubts about using the right terms when writing assignments. Many students find it quite difficult to start writing and feel anxious looking at the blank page. If you find writing an outline for the homework assignment a real challenge, follow these easy tips. It does not matter, what kind of paper you are assigned to complete, taking some time to write down an outline for it will help you in gathering information and starting your work. You will get a better result if you ask someone to check your academic essay draft and help you rewrite it correctly. It is a better case than to receive a constructive feedback from your professor on the completed paper that cannot be revised. If someone proofreads your paper, you get an opportunity to work on it and improve it. You can ask the professor to set a deadline for completing the draft a few days before the final due date to assist you with correcting the mistakes in the school assignment. Alternatively, you may just ask him to check your draft and comment on it individually. One more essential advice for students, who want to succeed in writing assignment, is to write more frequently. Remember, the more you write the better. Every completed paper is a great opportunity to improve writing skills. Use your free time for creative writing and you will be impressed how much your skills have been polished. If you still have any difficulties with homework assignments, you may look through somes of customized essays and other academic papers at the websites of custom writing companies. Such examples may serve as benchmarks for your future assignments. Feel free to turn to the assignment writing service and ask for professional assistance from highly skilled writers.

Decisions in Papradise Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Decisions in Papradise - Essay Example The first stage of the decision making technique discussed by Kolb et. al. (2007) is to take an overall view of the situation so it can be fully analyzed and understood by those making the decisions. This begins with examining the facts as well as the needs of the company and the eventual goals as to where it wants to be in the future. Past experiences and business expertise can be used as guides in this stage and the problem can be broken down into parts to give them priority and make the required adjustments. For our purposes, we need to conduct both a SWOT analysis and a PESTEL analysis to get a clear picture of what is happening in Kava and to understand our options for creating a greater presence on the island. The second stage comes into play when we create different solutions that can be used to help our business objectives and thus help in making decisions concerning the future of our company on Kava. The solutions can be created through brainstorming sessions and may even be outlandish. However, the decision making process comes in when we realize that certain solutions are more appropriate than others and the best solution may be what brings us closest to our objectives in the least amount of time while staying within the rules of the game. In the case of Kava, the solutions need to be based on the issues which are described in the case and these include following the mission of the company to remain profitable while being socially responsible. It is clear that developing a base of operations and helping the island is a part of the social responsibility of the company but it is difficult to see how the company can remain profitable in the given scenario. Therefore, it might be logical for the company to seek diversity for its business interests beyond its core competencies if it focuses on the variety of opportunities presented by being in Kava. Understandably, this type of critical thinking and
